Every child is expected to be on the site by 8:55 a.m. so that they are ready to be in their classes for 9:00 a.m. If pupils arrive late the adult will need to complete the form in the Late Arrivals iPad located in the reception area.

Absences

In the case of absences, parents are asked to telephone on the first day of absence and then to send a written message explaining the absence on the child’s return to school. Explanations for absence made by a child are not acceptable. An unauthorised absence is an absence that has not been approved or adequately accounted for. The school regularly monitors lateness and absence very closely.

The Head teacher is notified by class teachers of continual absence or persistent lateness. Parents will be contacted if attendance is a cause for concern. Recurring absence patterns are referred to the Educational Welfare Officer (EWO). The role of the EWO is to help parents and the Local Education Authority meet their statutory obligations on school attendance.

Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon’s designated EWO is Claire Bennett.
